CCWD Launches A New Public Resource Detailing Local Water Conditions - August 11, 2020

The Calaveras County Water District is launching a new public information tool to assess surface water conditions in the County. The resource will now compile daily data and information reports, which provide up-to-date water conditions for Calaveras County, including: accumulated precipitation, reservoir and lake water levels, stream flows, and more. The daily data is compared against historically wet and dry conditions, providing a comprehensive picture of current water conditions in Calaveras County.

The information originates from publicly-available web sources and is updated daily using automated software (see acknowledgements below). A new data packet that pulls the data from multiple sources will be updated daily and available for download from the District’s website.

Public Input Requested on Draft Versions

Through Dec. 31, 2020, CCWD is releasing ‘Draft Versions’ of the Public Data Packets to solicit comments, questions, or feedback. Please let us know how useful this information is to you or if there are constructive revisions that could improve the resource for the public (such as
appearance, layout, types of data, explanations, etc.). Please e-mail CCWD’s Manager of Water Resources, Brad Arnold, at

Special thanks to the Department of Water Resources’ California Data Exchange Center (CDEC), the Northern California Power Agency (NCPA), the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) for making this data publicly available and for maintaining the web data and information sources. These agencies are not associated with development of the CCWD’s Public Data Packet, and are therefore not responsible for its content, but these Public Data Packets would not exist without their data management efforts which are appreciated. CCWD does not independently verify the data it pulls from these sources, but offers this resource as a compilation of publicly available data from trusted sources.
