Copper Cove Water System Project – Raw Water Pump Replacement

Work Scheduled: Week of June 22

Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) will be performing critical infrastructure work at the Copper Cove Water Treatment Plant to replace a failed raw water pump.

What’s Happening

CCWD relies on pumps in Lake Tulloch to convey raw water to the Copper Cove Water Treatment Plant. These pumps provide operational flexibility and redundancy to maintain reliable service.

One of these pumps—Upper Lake Pump 2—has failed and must be replaced.

What to Expect

  • Crews from multiple CCWD departments will coordinate with a specialized dive team to complete the work
  • The failed pump has been uncoupled and brought to the surface
  • A new pump will be installed and secured to the existing system

Customer Impact

While service is expected to remain reliable, customers may notice changes in water system operations during the work period.

Customers are encouraged to voluntarily conserve water during this time to help maintain system stability.

Why This Matters

This project ensures continued reliability of the Copper Cove water system and maintains redundancy that is critical for long-term service, especially during high-demand summer months.

Copper Cove WTP is replacing a failed raw water pump from Lake Tulloch. Residents are urged to conserve water during this process.
