Copper Cove WTP Raw Water Pump Replacement Completed

The Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) is proud to announce the successful completion of the Copper Cove Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Raw Water Pump Replacement Project at Lake Tulloch.

Project Overview

This critical infrastructure project replaced a failed raw water pump, identified as “Upper Lake Pump 2” ensuring continued reliable water service to the community. The system includes multiple pumps to provide redundancy and operational flexibility, helping safeguard water delivery.

How the Work Was Completed

The project required extensive coordination and specialized expertise:

  • A professional dive team conducted underwater work to access and replace the pump
  • Equipment and boats were carefully decontaminated before entering the water
  • The failed pump was safely disconnected and brought to the surface
  • A new pump was installed and secured to the existing pump cradle
  • Multiple CCWD departments worked together to plan and execute the operation
  • Regional partners played a key role in supporting project success
