Notice Of Public Workshop For
The Calaveras County Water District’s Local Hazard Mitigation Plan
The Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) is in the process of updating their Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP). The preparation of a LHMP is required under the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 to be eligible to receive federal disaster assistance and funding. The CCWD’s water supply and conveyance facilities and infrastructure in Calaveras County are vulnerable to a wide range of natural hazards, including avalanche, dam incidents, drought, earthquakes, flooding, landslides, severe weather, and wildfires. The LHMP will provide the CCWD with valuable tools to identify risks and mitigate hazards through future project-specific actions. The LHMP will also assess the effects of climate change on natural hazards assessed in the plan and will incorporate climate adaptation strategies.

The CCWD will host a Public Workshop on September 11, 2023, 5:00 – 6:30 P.M. The Public Workshop will be an opportunity to learn more about the planning process, the natural hazards assessed in the CCWD’s Public Review Draft LHMP, and how to review and comment on the Public Review Draft LHMP. The community is encouraged to participate in the planning process by providing feedback during the virtual Public Workshop, completing an Online Survey, visiting the CCWD’s LHMP webpage, and reviewing the Public Review Draft LHMP.
