Press Release Rancho Calaveras Pressure Changes

SAN ANDREAS, Calif. — Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) has completed the Jenny Lind–Rancho Calaveras A-B Water Transmission Pipeline Project, a major infrastructure investment designed to improve water system reliability, reduce stress on aging infrastructure, and support the community's future water needs.
As part of the project, CCWD has placed five new Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs) located throughout the service area. As these improvements are integrated into daily operations, some customers may notice water pressure that feels different than it has in the past.
These changes are expected and are the result of a carefully engineered plan to create a more balanced, reliable, and resilient water distribution system. Hydraulic studies identified areas where excessive pressure, pressure surges, and hydraulic bottlenecks placed additional stress on pipelines, valves, and other infrastructure. The new transmission pipeline and pressure management improvements were specifically designed to address those issues.
What Is a Pressure Reducing Valve?

A Pressure Reducing Valve, or PRV, automatically regulates water pressure as it moves through the distribution system.
Think of a PRV as a traffic signal for water pressure. Just as traffic signals help vehicles move safely and efficiently, PRVs help maintain consistent pressure throughout the water system. By reducing excessive pressure and minimizing sudden fluctuations, they help protect pipelines, reduce the likelihood of leaks and breaks, and improve overall system performance.

Areas That May Notice Pressure Changes
Customers in and around the following areas may notice adjustments to water pressure as the new system is optimized:
- Hart Vickson Lane
- Baldwin Street
- Cane Lane
- Barde Road
- Rippon Road
- Usher Drive
- Bergsma Lane
- Bartelink Drive
- Brooks Road
- Grisham Road
- Hanley Drive
- Thornicroft Drive
- Farris Drive
- Moore Court
- Crosel Court
- Clements Place and surrounding neighborhoods
The new PRVs are located near:
- Hart Vickson Lane & Barde Road
- Hart Vickson Lane & Cane Lane
- Hart Vickson Lane & Baldwin Street
- Usher Drive near Baldwin Street
- Existing pressure control facilities in the Bergsma Lane area
Customers in areas served directly by Tank B, including portions of the Wind River Drive area, are not expected to experience significant pressure changes.

While some customers may notice pressure that is different from what they previously experienced, the new settings are designed to keep water pressure within accepted operating standards while improving overall system performance.

About the Project
The Jenny Lind–Rancho Calaveras A-B Water Transmission Pipeline Project included approximately 20,000 feet of new transmission pipeline, upgraded pressure management infrastructure, five new pressure-reducing stations, and 218 new service lines designed to eliminate hydraulic bottlenecks, reduce excessive pressures, improve water delivery, and strengthen the reliability of the Jenny Lind and Rancho Calaveras water systems.
