Temporary Water Supply Change in the Highway 4 Corridor may affect Taste, Smell, and Color for some CCWD Customers

October 2nd - October 6th, 2025

The Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) will temporarily switch to a backup water supply system serving the Highway 4 corridor between Forest Meadows and Camp Connell from October 2, 2025 - October 6, 2025, to perform routine annual infrastructure maintenance. During this period, customers may notice a difference in the taste and smell of their water.

Some residents in the affected area may also experience discolored water due to the temporary change in water source. CCWD assures customers that despite these changes, the water remains safe to drink and continues to meet all state and federal water quality standards.

“This annual maintenance is essential to ensure the long-term reliability of our infrastructure,” said Damon Wyckoff, CCWD Director of Operations. “We understand the inconvenience and appreciate our customers’ patience.”

CCWD crews will be conducting flushing operations throughout the system to help remove discolored water where possible. Water quality is expected to return to normal shortly after the maintenance is complete and the system is switched back to its primary water supply.
